Best Private Schools in Vancouver, WA
Clark County's private-school landscape is shaped overwhelmingly by evangelical Christian institutions, with a notable Seventh-day Adventist concentration in Battle Ground and a single Catholic high school as the only sizeable parochial secondary option. The metropolitan area effectively functions as the northern edge of greater Portland, but the private sector here is distinctly Washingtonian — more church-school in tone than the old-money independent tradition of the Northwest's larger metros, and shaped by the post-1990 residential growth that turned Camas, Ridgefield, and Battle Ground into bedroom communities for both Vancouver and Portland employers.
King's Way Christian Schools is the area's largest private school. King's Way began in 1971 as Peter Pan Daycare, a ministry of Vancouver Church; it expanded to a full elementary in 1977 under founder Sally Clark, added a middle school in 1996, established the full K-12 system in 2001, and graduated its first high-school class in 2009. The school became an independent 501(c)(3) in 2015 and now serves roughly 800 students PreK-12 on its NE 78th Street campus. Firm Foundation Christian School in Battle Ground, Cedar Tree Classical Christian School in Ridgefield, and Camas Christian Academy together form the broader evangelical and classical-Christian network.
The Adventist presence is unusually concentrated. Meadow Glade Adventist Elementary School and Columbia Adventist Academy, both in Battle Ground, sit adjacent on the historic Meadow Glade Adventist campus — a site that has anchored Seventh-day Adventist education in southwest Washington for more than a century. Columbia Adventist Academy is the only Adventist high school in the immediate region.
Seton Catholic College Preparatory High School in Vancouver, founded 2009, is the Catholic anchor of the field and the first new Catholic high school in southwest Washington in 43 years. Named for Elizabeth Ann Seton, the first native-born American to be canonized, it remains the only Catholic high school in Vancouver. St. Joseph Catholic School in central Vancouver and Our Lady of Lourdes round out the parish-elementary network. Slavic Christian Academy reflects the substantial Russian- and Ukrainian-speaking evangelical population that grew up in Vancouver beginning in the 1990s. The Camas school district's strong public elementary outcomes have likely suppressed demand for non-religious private K-8 options inside Camas itself, leaving Clark County effectively without a secular independent in the Eastside-Seattle mold.
