Cornerstone Christian Academy for Learning and Leadership is an independent, nondenominational Christian school in Clark County, founded in 1982 and enrolling about 245 students. It now operates on two campuses: the original site at 10818 NE 117th Avenue in Vancouver's Walnut Grove area, which houses early childhood education for ages one through five, and a Battle Ground campus at 715 NW Onsdorff Boulevard serving kindergarten through eighth grade. The Battle Ground building, which housed Battle Ground Public Schools' CAM Academy from 1996, was taken over in 2022 as the school's expansion north.
Clark County has a crowded field of Christian schools, and Cornerstone is a mid-sized one without a church sponsor. King's Way Christian Schools in Vancouver is larger and runs through 12th grade; Mannahouse Christian Academy is a church ministry with its high school in Portland; Columbia Adventist Academy in Battle Ground is denominational. Cornerstone's independence and its Cognia accreditation are its distinguishing points, and the move to Battle Ground positions it for the county's fast-growing north. The tradeoff is the absence of a high school, so families plan a transition after eighth grade, and an 18:1 student-teacher ratio that is higher than at smaller peers.
The school is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International and holds Cognia accreditation; its most recent Cognia review rated it above the national average in every area assessed. Classrooms use smart displays and collaborative layouts, students receive age-appropriate devices, and the school runs an international student program with host-family placement and athletics at the Battle Ground campus.
