Top Public High Schools in Yakima by Graduation Rate
The Yakima Valley's secondary system reflects the region's distinctive demographic and economic geography: heavily agricultural, majority-Hispanic in many districts, with three flagship Yakima School District comprehensives (Davis, Eisenhower, and the Yakima Online program) plus a ring of smaller East Valley, West Valley, Selah, Naches, and lower-valley districts including Toppenish, Wapato, and Zillah. Ranked by four-year graduation rate, the leaderboard favors the smaller surrounding districts over the largest urban Yakima campuses, with the gap between first and second exceeding three percentage points.
Selah High School in the small Selah district immediately north of Yakima leads at 97.7 percent — a notable result given the district's historical position closer to the state average and one that pairs with a 1171 SAT mean and an 83 percent AP pass rate, both strong by valley standards. Selah's career-and-technical programs (FCCLA, FFA, TSA), its dual-credit partnerships with Yakima Valley Community College and YV-Tech, and its in-house College in the High School offering for students without dual-credit transportation give it the deepest college-prep program on this list. Zillah High School, the small Lower Valley comprehensive, follows at 94.0 percent.
East Valley, Wapato, and Highland post rates between 92 and 94 percent, with East Valley's 1080-student enrollment the largest among the schools in that band. Naches Valley, a small mountain-foothill district west of Yakima, ties Highland. Davis High School, the Yakima School District's largest comprehensive at 2,373 students, comes in seventh at 91.4 percent — competitive on completion despite its scale and the demographic profile it serves. West Valley High School (the Yakima district of that name, distinct from West Valley in Spokane) and Eisenhower High School round out the top ten among brick-and-mortar campuses, with the small Selah Online program included as the tenth entry for completeness.
Although Toppenish High School posts a 98 percent graduation rate that would lead this list, it appears on the statewide leaderboard but is excluded here only when the regional definition of 'Yakima' is drawn as the immediate Yakima city/Selah/Naches/East and West Valley/Davis-Eisenhower commuting shed; the rank-by criteria still place it among regional leaders. Toppenish is in this metric the strongest performer in the lower valley.
Although Toppenish High School posts a 98 percent graduation rate that would lead this list, it falls outside the immediate Yakima metro by some regional definitions. East Valley Senior HS, Selah Senior HS, and West Valley Senior HS anchor the Yakima-suburban cohort; Yakima SD's three comprehensive 9-12s (Davis, Eisenhower, Stanton) sit a tier below the suburbs, reflecting the larger and higher-need student body inside the city.
