Valley Christian School is a private nondenominational K-12 Christian school in Spokane Valley, founded in 1975 on the premises of Valley Fourth Memorial Church. The school relocated in 2017 to the former University High School building on East 9th Avenue, purchasing the 156,000-square-foot, 23.7-acre site outright for $4.41 million through Central Valley School District financing.
In the Spokane-area private K-12 landscape, Valley Christian's natural peers are the other evangelical and nondenominational K-12 schools — Northwest Christian Schools (Colbert) is the closest comparable in size and program, and Southside Christian School is a smaller alternative. Cataldo Catholic School is the equivalent on the Catholic K-8 side, and Saint George's is the secular IB option for families weighing private school overall. Valley Christian and Northwest Christian are sports rivals at the WIAA 1B level.
Enrollment is approximately 400 students with a student-teacher ratio in the single digits. The curriculum combines academic rigor with daily Bible classes, weekly chapel, and service projects organized through the school's Panther Project. The athletic program competes in WIAA District 7 1B in cross country, basketball, track and field, and volleyball. Recent state titles include Knowledge Bowl championships in 2013 and 2022, and back-to-back boys' cross country and track titles in 2023-24 and 2024-25.
