Tenino High School is the only high school in the Tenino School District, serving the historic sandstone-quarry town of Tenino in southern Thurston County and the surrounding rural communities along Highway 507 toward Bucoda and Rainier. About 400 students attend grades 9-12 on the campus along the Yelm Tenino Trail.
The Beavers compete in the 1A Evergreen League across the WIAA's southwest district. The 1986 boys baseball and girls track teams won state titles, and the school launched an Athletics Hall of Fame in 2024, with a 2025 class — Jessica Brathovd, Matt Whitmire, and Jerry Striegel — inducted at halftime of a January boys basketball game and chronicled by The Daily Chronicle. Brathovd, a seven-time state champion in the 400 and 800 meters, anchors the school's track-and-field record book.
The district has navigated several recent capital and EP&O levy and bond campaigns covered in The Daily Chronicle and Nisqually Valley News, with replacement Educational Programs and Operations levies funding day-to-day school operations.
