Summit Classical Christian School is a PreK-12 school of about 275 students, founded in 2006 by two families who wanted an affordable, classically modeled Christian education on the Eastside. For years it operated at 5130 164th Avenue SE in Bellevue; it has since moved to a new campus at 1040 12th Avenue NW in Issaquah. The school graduated its first senior class in 2018 and is accredited by the Association of Classical Christian Schools, with membership in the Society for Classical Learning.
Summit belongs to the small group of classical Christian schools in the Puget Sound region, alongside Providence Classical Christian School in the Kirkland area, and it is one of the few that runs all three stages of the trivium through a full high school. Against the Eastside's larger conventional Christian school, Bellevue Christian, Summit offers lower tuition and a 6:1 student-teacher ratio but a far smaller catalog of electives and sports. The tradeoff is the classical model itself: a memorization-heavy grammar stage, formal logic in middle school, and rhetoric in high school, which suits families who want that structure rather than a broad elective menu.
The curriculum is organized as grammar (K-5), logic (6-8), and rhetoric (9-12), with Scripture treated as the integrating center of every subject. Average class size is about 16. The school's stated mission is "cultivating generations of joyful disciples of Christ, rooted in Truth, to the glory of God," and it describes its aim as training curious thinkers, eloquent communicators, and stewards of their gifts in a setting that prizes humility and virtue.
