Squalicum High School is a Bellingham Public Schools comprehensive high school serving the northeast neighborhoods of Bellingham, including the area around Lake Whatcom. About 1,273 students attend grades 9–12 with a 21:1 student/teacher ratio. The school opened in September 1998 as part of an architecturally distinctive 'High Schools of the Future' initiative, organized internally into three administrative 'houses' — Mountain, Bay, and Sky — each oriented toward views of Mount Baker, Bellingham Bay, and open scenery.
Squalicum posts an 87% graduation rate, AP participation around 54%, and SBA results of 78% reading / 34% math proficiency. The school sustains 25+ student clubs across academic, civic, and arts programs, and is recognized in PolarisList's Washington Harvard/Princeton/MIT placement rankings.
