Sammamish High School is the second of four traditional comprehensive high schools in the Bellevue School District (alongside Bellevue HS, Newport, and Interlake), opened in 1959 and serving about 1,332 students in grades 9–12 from the south-Bellevue neighborhoods. The student body is roughly 67% non-white and 41% economically disadvantaged.
Sammamish runs 23 AP-prep courses with a 64% AP participation rate, alongside an unusually broad elective catalog — glass blowing, culinary arts, biotechnology, and nursing-assistant training. The school participates in the Bellevue School District's 12-year Spanish Dual Language Program and offers a State Seal of Biliteracy through its International Spanish Academy. Sammamish HS is recognized in PolarisList's Washington Harvard/Princeton/MIT placement rankings.
