Riverside High School serves the rural communities of Chattaroy, Elk, and Deer Park in northern Spokane County, drawing about 440 students to a campus on the edge of the Pend Oreille foothills. The school is the only comprehensive high school in the Riverside School District, which traces its consolidation back to the 1935 merger of the Milan, Elk, and Chattaroy districts.
Academics include a slate of Advanced Placement courses, Project Lead The Way engineering, and Career and Technical Education pathways spanning agriculture, engineering, manufacturing, business, communications, and health sciences. Students can also earn dual credit and pursue Personal Pathway requirements aligned with WIAA and OSPI graduation rules.
The Rams compete at the 1A level in the Northeast League, with football, wrestling, and basketball among the most followed programs. The Spokesman-Review covers Riverside athletics and runs an annual graduating-seniors feature on the school. District-wide, Riverside has reported one of the highest kindergarten readiness rates in Spokane County, and recent enrollment growth has prompted facilities planning conversations at the school board level.
