Onalaska High School serves the small Lewis County hamlet of Onalaska, a former mill town about eight miles east of Interstate 5 along Highway 508. With roughly 285 students, the campus combined with Onalaska Middle School forms the secondary core of the Onalaska School District.
The school drew statewide attention in 2017 when The Seattle Times and The Daily Chronicle reported that all 43 members of the graduating class had been accepted to college — an outcome the district credited to a daily class focused on post-secondary planning and career preparation. The campus is also unusual for a school its size in housing a public observatory with a large research-grade telescope, profiled by Oregon Public Broadcasting.
The Loggers compete in WIAA Class 2B, fielding football, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, track, and cross country teams. CTE programs reflect the surrounding rural and timber economy, and Running Start enrollment with Centralia College gives juniors and seniors access to college coursework while still living at home.
