Moses Lake Christian Academy is the Columbia Basin's PreK-12 Christian school, enrolling about 230 students at 1312 S Moses Lake Avenue. The school began about 50 years ago as Moses Lake Christian School with fewer than 50 students, and in 2002 it merged with Daystar Academy to form the present academy. It is nondenominational, a member of the Association of Christian Schools International, and approved by the Washington State Board of Education.
Its nearest peer is Covenant Christian School, the other Christian school in Moses Lake; the two are small enough that they field combined athletic teams under the MLCA/Covenant Christian name. Within Grant County, MLCA is the only private school that carries students from preschool through a high school diploma, so the practical comparison for most families is with Moses Lake High School, which is many times larger. The tradeoff is the one that comes with a 12:1 student-teacher ratio and class sizes around a dozen: close supervision and a faith-integrated program, but a narrower set of advanced courses and electives than a comprehensive public high school.
The academic program runs from an early childhood division built around play-based learning, through elementary grades, to a college-preparatory secondary school with STEM coursework, and it includes music, art, foreign language, and an extended learning program. The Lions field 12 middle and high school teams, including volleyball, basketball, softball, and track and field, and the school's gym is known as the Den.
