Kentlake High School opened in 1997 at 21401 SE Falcon Way in Covington, just southeast of Kent, and is one of four comprehensive high schools in the Kent School District. Designed by Burr Lawrence Rising and built to accommodate 1,600 students, the brick, two-story, 232,000-square-foot facility now enrolls roughly 1,560 students.
The Falcons compete in the North Puget Sound League's Cascade Division, which they joined in the 2016-2017 realignment. Athletic highlights include 4A volleyball state championships in 2000, 2001, and 2002, and a girls flag football program that reached the state tournament in 2024, 2025, and 2026 as the sport expanded across Washington's WIAA classifications.
Academically, Kentlake offers Advanced Placement coursework, Running Start through Green River College and other partners, and CTE pathways shared across the Kent School District. Roughly 70 percent of AP test-takers earned passing scores in recent years. The school's enrollment area covers the Lake Meridian and Lake Sawyer communities and reflects the rapid suburban growth of southeast King County since the school's founding.
