Kennewick High School, founded in 1904, is the oldest high school in the Kennewick School District and one of the older public high schools in eastern Washington. Enrollment has grown to roughly 1,920 students across grades 9-12 on the campus near Neil F. Lampson Stadium, the long-time rivalry venue used for the annual Tri-City football matchup.
The Lions compete in the Mid-Columbia Conference and play Richland High School in one of the longest-running high-school football rivalries in Washington, dating to 1912. Strong programs in bowling, track, and music — the school's music department has been recognized as a Grammy Signature School — round out a deep activities slate.
Academic offerings include Advanced Placement coursework, CTE pathways in business, health sciences, and engineering, and Running Start at Columbia Basin College. The school colors are orange and black; coverage from the Tri-City Herald, Apple Valley News Now, and SWX Local Sports tracks the Lions across seasons. Kennewick served as the city's only high school for 64 years until Kamiakin opened in 1968.
