Innovation Lab High School is a small choice school within the Northshore School District in Bothell, designed around interdisciplinary, project-based learning rather than the traditional comprehensive-high-school model. Opened in the late 2010s, it serves roughly 250 students drawn from across Northshore who opt into a competency-based approach organized around six "mastery skills": collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking, agency, and citizenship.
Students participate in "Crew," an advisory and support structure that anchors the school's culture, and complete cross-disciplinary projects intended to connect coursework with real-world problems. The school participates in Better World Day, a national service-learning event during which Innovation Lab students have run projects ranging from charity gaming streams to pollinator gardens and elementary-school literacy collaborations.
Because the school is intentionally small, athletics and traditional electives run through co-enrollment with neighboring Northshore high schools. Innovation Lab's choice-school model and project-based curriculum make it a distinctive option within a district that also operates Bothell, Inglemoor, North Creek, and Woodinville high schools.
