Friday Harbor High School is the only public 2B high school on San Juan Island, serving about 260 students as the Wolverines in the San Juan Island School District. Despite the small enrollment, the school posts strong academic outcomes for its size: SAT means around 1,110, AP pass rates near 47%, AP participation around 65% (well above state average), and a four-year graduation rate of 93%.
The district is working through a multi-campus re-siding project covering both the high school and middle school, with bids accepted through March 2025. San Juan Island School District schools have been recognized for community-engagement and academic programming through the Journal of the San Juan Islands. Island geography requires the school to operate ferry-dependent transportation logistics for athletics and activities.
