Emerald Ridge High School is a 3A comprehensive school in the Puyallup School District serving roughly 1,610 students as the Jaguars. Opened in 2000 with a designed capacity of about 1,230 students, the campus has been over capacity for years; September 2024 enrollment was reported at about 1,560.
Voters approved Proposition 1 in April 2025, providing capital bond funding to expand Emerald Ridge. As an interim measure, the district is converting non-instructional project areas to classrooms for the 2026-27 school year. Academic outcomes track closely with the Pierce County average: SAT means around 1,090, AP pass rates above 60%, four-year graduation around 89%, and steady direct-to-college enrollment in the low 30s percent.
