Eastside Catholic is the only seven-year (grades 6-12) co-educational Catholic school east of Seattle, located on the Sammamish Plateau on a $42 million campus opened in 2008. Founded in 1980, the school enrolls about 880 students total — 235 in middle school and approximately 800 in the high school — making it one of the larger Catholic secondary schools in Washington.
Among Catholic high schools in the Seattle area, Eastside Catholic's peer set is Bishop Blanchet (Seattle, co-ed, North End), Holy Names (girls, Capitol Hill), O'Dea (boys, First Hill), and Seattle Prep (Capitol Hill, Jesuit, co-ed). For families seeking a co-ed Catholic option on the Eastside, EC is effectively unopposed within geography — Seattle Prep and Bishop Blanchet would each require crossing Lake Washington daily. The school's athletic program is unusually strong for its size: in March 2025 the girls' basketball team won the WIAA 3A state championship at the Tacoma Dome, and EC's football and wrestling programs are perennial contenders.
The school is the #10-ranked WA school by PolarisList HPM placements (Harvard, Princeton, MIT acceptances 2022-2025), an unusually strong showing for a Catholic school relative to the secular independents. EC publishes annual academic and athletic recognitions through its alumni community of over 5,600. Tuition runs in line with peer Catholic high schools but well below the secular Eastside independents (Overlake, EPS, Bear Creek).
