Colfax High School serves the Palouse farming town of Colfax, the seat of Whitman County, as the only secondary campus in the small Colfax School District. With an enrollment of roughly 260 students drawn from a wide rural attendance area, the school combines a traditional comprehensive curriculum with a strong agricultural and FFA tradition typical of Whitman County districts.
The Bulldogs are a perennial power in WIAA Class 2B athletics. In March 2024 the boys basketball team capped a 29-0 season with a state title at the Spokane Arena, and the program has remained a fixture of state tournament coverage in the Whitman County Gazette and the Spokesman-Review's Inland Northwest sports pages. Colfax also fields football, volleyball, baseball, track, and cross country teams across the Northeast 2B League.
Given the small graduating classes, Colfax leans on a tight academic core supplemented by Running Start enrollment with nearby Washington State University and Spokane Falls Community College. The campus sits on Highway 26 in town and is a community gathering point for sporting events that draw alumni from across the wheat country.
