Capital High School is one of two comprehensive high schools in the Olympia School District, serving about 1,326 students in grades 9–12 in west Olympia. The school is one of only a handful of WA public high schools authorized as a full International Baccalaureate program, and pairs that with a strong Running Start partnership for dual-enrollment college credit at South Puget Sound Community College.
Capital posts a 90.2% four-year graduation rate and ranks in the top quartile of WA high schools by U.S. News methodology. The school is recognized in PolarisList's Harvard/Princeton/MIT placement rankings and supports a deep co-curricular program — particularly its theatre department, which runs a multi-show mainstage season — alongside the Cougars' WIAA athletic programs.
