Bonney Lake High School opened in 2005 to relieve overcrowding at neighboring Sumner High and now enrolls about 1,770 students on a campus along 199th Avenue Court East in Bonney Lake, Pierce County. It is the second comprehensive high school in the Sumner-Bonney Lake School District and competes in the South Puget Sound League at the 3A level.
The Panthers' academic program emphasizes Advanced Placement coursework, Project Lead The Way engineering, and a Gifted and Talented strand. The school joined the High Schools That Work reform network early in its history, and an on-campus Boeing Employees' Credit Union branch operates as a financial-literacy lab.
Athletics have produced three state titles: boys soccer in 2013, boys wrestling in 2017, and softball in 2018. The wrestling program, profiled by KING 5 as an emerging powerhouse, has continued to send athletes to the WIAA state tournament. In 2024-25, the Panthers debuted girls flag football, joining a growing roster of WIAA-sanctioned offerings, and the program also fields a competitive culinary team that has placed at the state ProStart competition.
