Blaine High School is a 1A comprehensive school in the Blaine School District at the U.S.-Canada border in Whatcom County, serving roughly 590 students. SAT means at Blaine are unusually strong for the school size — around 1,316, well above the state median — paired with AP pass rates above 60% and a four-year graduation rate near 87%.
The 2024-25 school year was dominated by district budget pressure: in March 2025 the board approved roughly $3 million in cuts and reduced 46 positions across the district. Around 100 high-school students walked out in protest of proposed cuts to the theater program, which the board ultimately retained. Late-2025 news brought a reversal of a five-year enrollment decline and the long-anticipated reopening of the high-school cafeteria after a two-year closure.
