Anacortes High School is a 2A comprehensive school in the Anacortes School District at the gateway to the San Juan Islands in Skagit County, serving roughly 790 students as the Seahawks. Academic outcomes place it among the strongest 2A schools in the state: SAT means around 1,150, AP pass rates above 70%, and a four-year graduation rate near 98%.
The district was recognized as a 2025 Board of Distinction by OSPI. Leadership transitions are reshaping the 2026-27 school year: a new superintendent is set to begin July 1, 2026, replacing the prior superintendent who is moving to Northshore School District. Budget pressure has reduced district counseling capacity from eight to five positions for 2,600 students. The district is preparing a February 2026 educational programs and operations levy.
